The Truth about Lung Cancer : Prevention is better than Cure

Posted by The Musing Mom at 10:21 PM 3 comments
As some of you don’t know my husband is a smoker. He usually smokes about 6 cigarettes sticks a day and I really hate it. Especially when I read an article about lung cancer, I just got the urge to make him stop as soon as possible. I hope I can stop him totally before this year end.

For you who don’t know a thing about the lung cancer, here are some facts that I’ve gathered from my reads.

Did you know that approximately 31 males out of 100,000 are diagnosed with lung cancer every year? That’s why doctors encourage men to ensure a cancer-free lifestyle by proactively reducing cancer risks. Lung cancer is the number one cause of cancer-related deaths. Unfortunately, there is no effective early detection method for lung cancer. This means that patients are often diagnosed at an incurable stage. OH MY!

Smokers, who are at greater risk for lung cancer, should see a doctor when they notice the following symptoms:

• A Nagging cough
• Hoarseness
• Bloody or rust colored phlegm
• Persistent fever with no identifiable cause
• Recurring lung infections
• Shortness of breath
• Chest pains worsened by deep breathing
• Onset of wheezing
• Weight loss or loss of appetite

Please note that lung cancer is not only for me but also for women who are also chain smokers.

Overall, it is better to prevent the disease than to cure. So, as early as now I suggest that you smokers should end the habit. I know it’s really hard to quit but it is much manageable and easy to accept than to have cancer, right?

Can you recognize what this thing is? No?

Well, it’s actually a pole. :)

This photo was taken by my husband while the sky was clearer like the water. Can you see how blue the sky is without the clouds?

Ericka's Ballet Moment

Before I finish my reviews about adapexin, let me show you some you first a photo of my husband’s only niece (as of this moment) Ericka. She is the only rose among the thorns of cousins and she is dearly loved by everyone because of his sweetness.

Today, my SIL posted some photos that Ericka is currently enrolled in a ballet class near their house in Canada. Just look how cute she is while making her moment.

If ever my second child would be a girl, I will definitely enroll her to one of the ballet classes here as well. :)

Anti-Cancer Foods to Eat | Foods to Eat to Fight and Prevent Cancer

As we all know, cancer is one of the top disease in the medical chart that bears some of the greatest mortality rate. There are different types of such that attacks the human body. Anyone who is diagnosed of the Big C usually experience great depression because of the fact that it is a malignant disease that will cause death on most of its patient.

But did you know that you could actually prevent cancer by eating the right food? Other than a stress-free lifestyle and exercise, food is one source of what’s your health life is going to be. So to help you with it, I discovered some foods that you might want to eat and have a longer healthy life.

First on the list is Turmeric.

This spice found in curry powder and some mustard, may slow the spread of cancer and the growth of tumors. It actually has the same effects on the body as certain cancer drugs do. Pair it with black pepper to absorb 2,000 percent more turmeric. Use the combo on roasted veggies or kebabs or in soups.

Cabbage

Cruciferous veggies, a class that includes cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts, appear to prevent lung, colon and breast cancer. Different types of estrogens have been associated with both increased and decreased cancer risk. Cruciferous vegetables help your body process estrogen in a way that might lower risk. Steam or stir-fry them; boiling degrades beneficial compounds. Also consider sauerkraut; fermenting these veggies help release more cancer-fighting compounds.

Strawberries

Munching on vitamin C filled foods may help stave off oral, esophageal, lung, stomach, pancreatic and colon cancers. The antioxidant might block the effects of cancer-causing free radicals, help prevent cancer from spreading and enhance immunity. Trials of vitamin C supplements have not reduced cancer risk as well as food can, so stock up on brightly colored edibles such as kiwifruit, strawberries, guava and citrus.

A Stressful Life Ahead

Oh my day is really a stressful one for me. Other than being hungry while working, I look like I have trimmed down some pounds and took tons of slimming tablets because of my saggy face. Lol! I never thought that I would ever experience such tremendous stress in my life. Well, it was actually my fault because I made ‘something” happen which I know will cause a big problem in my future. Oh well, I cannot do anything to stop it, all I can do now is accept my fate and be courage enough to face it. :)
